Halloween 2009

So I'm finally to Halloween, woo hoo! What would Halloween be without an awesome pumpkin carving experience? Wise people that we are, we took pictures while carving, but not of the end results--oops! I'll just tell you that all 5 pumpkins looked fantastic! It was a first for Emma, but she really enjoyed it. We waited to carve them until the night before Halloween because it was so cold outside all the pumpkins were looking gross. Ours were lovely, for Halloween night, and then I chucked them--there is nothing worse than decaying pumpkins on the front steps!

The gang, less Dennis, who dressed up as, what else? The photographer. Devin has begged me for a "Scream" costume for the past two years, so I finally broke down and got one for him and he was in heaven. He puts it on regularly to scare the girls--and it still works every time.

Snow

We had our second big snowstorm of the year, and the first one we actually got to enjoy (last time we had church at 9 a.m., so the kids didn't get to play in it in the morning, and it had all melted by the time we got home). Connor is oh so sick today (teething, molars). Ugh. I held him all day, except for this brief 30-minute stretch where he lay in his bed and Aspen and I went out to build a snowman:

We went in & enjoyed hot chocolate with marshmallows afterward (YUM!):

Happy Halloween! What a fun night. Dennis' sister Wendy brought her two daughters (Ellie & Maren) trick-or-treating with us. She thought the kids would have more fun trick-or-treating together than just with mom. Maren wore Aspen's ladybug costume from a few years ago, but she was asleep during these pictures, so you'll have to check out Wendy's blog to see her cute photos. Here are Aspen, Connor, & Ellie getting ready to go (thanks to wonderful neighbors who share great costumes! Aspen was a darling pink poodle--puppy, as she puts it--and Connor is quite possibly the cutest monkey I've ever seen!):

My computer is being exceptionally slow tonight, so I guess I'll be short. As soon as I download photos from Denni's computer, I'll post pics from the second annual Project Read Spelling Bee tonight--it was awesome! I'm pretty glad it's over, however.

We going "no cost" on Halloween costumes this year. Aspen borrowed this darling pink poodle costume from a neighbor, but now she wants to be a ghost. We'll see how convincing mommy can be before then.


I got to go to a "Ladies Night Out" for Foster Care this week. It was wonderful, and much needed. We got massages, ate chocolate, and won prizes (like a jumbo pizza from Pier 49 that was great to feed my family tonight).
