Geography

So the phonics books were a little much for Aspen right now--we're still working on the concept of each letter making a sound. She's getting it slowly but surely. Instead, she has really taken to map skills. She can now identify the United States, Canada, Mexico, Russia, and China on a world map. Pretty impressive, huh? I wish my fourteen-year-old could do that! We have some world map place mats, so we've been quizzing the kids at dinner, and that's a lot of fun.

Midnight Chaos

So we had a little excitement last night. We've been running a humidifier in Devin & Connor's room for the past several months since Connor has been sick. Well, last night, around midnight, the steam from the humidifier set off our smoke detector. YIKES! Of course, all our smoke detectors are connected, so it didn't just set off one . . . but every one in the entire house. Shaylee came flying upstairs, Devin woke up groggy, and Aspen started to bawl. Connor is the only one who slept peacefully through the entire saga only to wake up inconsolable an hour later. Ahh, the excitement.

I made everyone wear their Easter outfits again (well, Devin didn't, and Connor pooped through his), but I thought we looked cute. Thanks for taking the cute pic dad!

Okay, so I have obviously been playing around with my templates html code--what fun! Tell me what you think, what I ought to change, etc. I know Dennis will think it's too pink, but he never looks at this blog unless I "force" him to check out some fun new post. Oh well.
